One Eastside
This modern architectural water feature operates as a three-tier cascade with a split base composed of geometric, square pools. It blends dynamic water movement, subtle surface textures and integrated lighting to create an engaging focal point.
The upper pool features a water table. A large, centrally located, illuminated bubbler discharges water which gently radiates out across the table and falls from the edge through a gap to an inclined collection channel below.
Water from the collection channel passes to an intermediate pool where it overflows a weir edge creating a clean sheet of falling water into one of the two lower pools emitting a soothing cascading sound.
The two lower pools are separated by a pathway but are hydraulically connected to maintain similar water levels in both pools. Each of the lower pools have four submerged illuminated jets which produce a low-pressure, frothy, agitated water effect with a gentle acoustic white noise while glowing from within via integrated submersible LED lights. These jets provide a gentle, playful conclusion to the water transit, contrasting beautifully with the tranquil water table at the top.
The water is filtered and disinfected in the water feature plant room located in the adjacent building with inlet and outlet locations to promote a good distribution of treated water to help maintain good water quality within the feature.
All control, treatment and pumping equipment is located in the water feature plant room
Two water features can be found in the West Courtyard area, a modern area that offers a stunning and calming focal point for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Bringing a sense of grandeur to the space, a towering wall of water, approximately 40m in length and 7m high in the centre, transforms an otherwise blank retaining wall, bringing intriguing movement and sound to the scene.
A circular reflective mirror pool feature adds a different, relaxing dynamic to the water wall’s cascading water by being located in the middle of the area on the ground. The paving is transformed when filled with water, it changes, attracting attention to minute surface ripples drawn across the surface and the sky above, which is reflected in the pool.
This exciting water playground full of interactive discoveries will keep children of all abilities entertained for hours! Waterplay® Solutions
Consisting of six display elements: a doughnut canister with 8 solo spurts, two tulip style nozzles and a geyser style nozzle all of which are from ground level, in addition to two water towers have been designed to engage and stimulate children with different types of interactions encouraging social play, imaginative play and understanding the behaviour of water.
Two activator posts control the displays with one activator enabling the two tulip nozzles and the other activator enabling the doughnut, geyser and water towers.
The doughnut is the highest part in the play area and water cascades down through various channels to the drain at the low point, picking up more displays as it goes.
Woodberry Park in North London developed by Berkeley Homes has over 4,600 new homes created on a 25 hectare development area. The development benefits from Berkeley’s renowned high specification and attention to detail which includes the terraced landscaped area and a high specification multi-faceted water feature.
The water feature generally consists of a five metre diameter stainless steel top bowl with three water chutes and a central cascade jet, three pools – the upper two having broad edge weirs and the lower pool having a central two metre diameter stainless steel sphere feature over which was runs. To further enhance the display experience both the sphere and the underside of the upper bowl are illuminated at night by colour changed LED lighting.
The plant room is located some distance from the water feature at a lower level in the basement of the development. It contains all the necessary mechanical, electrical and treatment equipment required to operate the water feature system and keep the water to the require standard.
Despite there being various challenges in the construction of the water feature and manufacture of the bowl and sphere, with the assistance of In-Ex and Berkeley’s the water feature build was completed from order to commissioning in 10 working weeks.
The Cafe Mall Fountain is a water display which captures the attention of people entering the café mall area to access the shops or perhaps enjoy some refreshment from the café. The feature comprises of upper and lower pools delineated by a region of rocks . Each pool has jumping jets, together with submerged/surface perimeter jets around the upper pool. The upper pool includes statuesque figures, a lower bowl and an upper bowl.
To further enhance the display the jumping jets are able to perform colour changing sequences independently or in line with one another and the bowl light. The full effect of the fountain lighting can be appreciated by evening shoppers when the ambient light is lower.
