Stamford Park
The design concept consists of an obovate leaf shape hard landscaped performance space set adjacent to the children’s playground within the main park.
The feature display is created by five rows of jets dissecting the long axis of the leaf shape. Water from 29 display jets falls on to the hard landscaped surface and flows over the performance area to a stainless steel grill and collection sump at the lower end of the feature.
The hard landscaping within the performance space incorporates falls to contain the water and ensure it flows towards the collection sump.
An alternate rows of jets allows alternate groups of rows to rise and fall separately. The most western jet on each row runs independently from all the others to create increased animation of the overall display.
The water feature is set in a natural stone paved area bordered by planting beds to form a focal point of the parkway entrance.
In terms of the visual display, the design concept consists of seven arched jets placed in two rows creating an arc of water.
Each jet is illuminated with a coloured LED light to illuminate the water as it flows through the air. The lights can colour change individually and can coincide with their respective water jet.
Critical work has been carried out on Redcar Seafront to protect and secure people, homes and businesses against the risk of coastal flooding and coastal erosion.
The new defences have been built to cope with changes in sea levels, which are predicted to rise by about 85cm over the next hundred years. This was highlighted in spring 2010 when a storm surge caused very high tides and showed the damage that these can lead to, leaving big holes in large sections of the seawall.
The sea defence has been funded and managed by the Environment Agency and will stretch for 2.7km, from Coatham to the eastern end of the Stray and is intended to reduce coastal erosion and flood risk for the next 100 years.
After major consultation, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council took the opportunity to work in partnership with the Environment Agency to revamp the promenade areas to enhance the seafront for residents and increase the number of visitors.
The striking design of the promenade has taken inspiration from Redcar’s nautical heritage. The promenade has many attractive features appealing to all ages, including new leisure spaces with a water feature and show rides. Fountains & Features Ltd, worked in partnership with the main contractors, Birse Coastal Ltd, to build and install a water feature that everyone will be able to enjoy all year round, not just in the summer.
High Point Village, an award winning scheme, designed by Rolfe Judd Architects incorporating accommodation, leisure facilities, hotels, shops and restaurants, in a landscaped setting beside the Grand Union Canal. High Point Village offers an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy, driven world
As part of the Hayes Canalside Development two separate rectangular podium water feature pools were created as part of the landscaping. Visually the features consist of granite clad pools at low level providing very slow water movement, one located on a podium deck and the other located some 6m lower at ground level.
A plaza water feature display, created by nine aerated jets that fall onto a paved area returning to a water tank via a perimeter drain system is also incorporated in the development.
The hard landscaping within the performance space incorporates falls to contain the water and ensure it flows towards drain channels. To further enhance the display each jet is illuminated by a white LED light. During the evening time the LED lights catch the full height of the jets and bring a whole new aspect to the feature to that of the daytime.
Kings Gardens is one of the jewels in the crown of Southport’s seafront, within the Promenade Conservation Area. Sefton Council, with its partners, are restoring the Gardens to their former glory. As part of the Kings Gardens Restoration a decorative water feature has replaced the existing pond.
The feature is situated in gardens which offer a pleasant space where people can take a relaxing stroll and enjoy the cooling environment of a water feature comprising of 14 clearstream water jets aiming towards 1 aerated central jet.
Each jet is illuminated by a white LED light. During the evening time the LED lights catch the jets and bring a whole new aspect to the feature to that of the daytime.
A courtyard area offering a pleasant space, where people can stroll through and enjoy the cooling environment of a decorative water feature along their way.
The feature has a total of 8 multi-clearstream water jets located in 2 arcs with 4 jets per arc either side of a footpath.
To further enhance the display each jet is illuminated by a white LED light. During the evening time the LED lights catch the jets and bring a whole new aspect to the feature to that of the daytime.
Within the Central Chelmsford development, a water feature named ‘The Source’ is located in a paved area between office blocks. The feature is a cluster of arching fountain jets at ground level which are individually controlled and sequenced.
The feature has a total of 7 arching jets set out in a staggered pattern all aiming in the direction of a return grate. Jet heights are variable up to 1m high with a 2.6m throw.
To further enhance the display each jet is illuminated by a white LED light. During the evening time the LED lights catch the jets and bring a whole new aspect to the feature to that of the daytime.
A low bubbling 12 jet plaza type water feature located in the Visitors Courtyard area of the development. The feature is located on a sloping paved area between two raised lawns which are surrounded by granite walls.
The feature has a total of 12 multi clearstream water jets located in lines with varying numbers of jets. The jets are low height – up to 500mm max.
A bronze sculpture of child gymnasts atop of a plinth encircled by granite cobbles forms the centre-piece of the New Town Square water feature. This plaza type water feature has replaced an existing feature as part of the upgrading of Marlowes Shopping Zone.
The water feature consists of 24 jets in two rings surrounding an existing statue which has been repositioned and mounted. The inner ring has 8 jets reaching a maximum height of 2m. The outer ring has 16 jets reaching a maximum height of 1m.
The 24 nozzles can be varied in height up by way of 24 individual DMX controlled submersible pumps located beneath the feature in a water holding matrix consisting of return water grates, pump pods and an interconnecting pipework system. Water for the jet pumps is stored in the stainless steel matrix. The grate and matrix system has been designed for both pedestrian and street cleaning machine loadings.
Each display jet has been installed with a LED colour changing light unit around the jet to provide an added visual impact. Each jet and light unit is capable of being DMX controllable.
As each jet and light are individually controllable this enables the feature to have a wide variety of sequenced displays involving chasing jets at varying heights as well as colour changing sequences.
An integrated entertainment system has also been installed to sequence the water jets and lights to some pre set musical compositions.
To create a different effect a misting system has also been incorporated which will emanate from each of the water return grates to create a different atmosphere around the statue when the jets are not running.
The Great Hall Square offers a pleasant space where students, lecturers and visitors can stroll through and enjoy the cooling environment of a decorative water feature along their way.
The plaza feature consists of 15 jets in thee rows of 5. Each jet has a maximum height of 1.5m controlled by individual DMX controlled submersible pumps located beneath the feature in a water holding matrix consisting of pump troughs and interconnecting pipework system.
Each display jet is installed with a LED colour change light unit around the jet to provide an added visual impact. A control system is also installed to enable the water jets and light sequencing to be programmed.
