Carrington Street
Two raised rill features flowing from one end of the feature to the other, positioned between planters covered in evergreens, enhance a landscaped courtyard space.
Whilst the surface level of the water remains constant, the planting rises and falls beside the feature, creating the appearance of a stream flowing through a landscape. A depiction of the River Tyburn which formerly flowed through the area.
Two skylights that provide natural light into the area below are also incorporated into one of the features. When viewed from below, the soft movement of the water’s surface over the skylight maximizes the amount of light that enters while creating a dappled look.
The water treatment equipment and storage tank are located in a plant room, located on the second floor of the basement.
The two primary processes of the water feature, display and, water storage and treatment are independent of one another.
The water treatment system is designed to control bacteriological growth and maintain a high quality of water in the holding tank to ensure the display water is safe.
A triangular water table rises from the boulevard to reflect the surrounding landscape and sky creating a focal point at the entrance to 4 Wellington Place, a new build, nine-storey office and retail development in Leeds.
The water feature weirs over on two sides to a below ground collection channel where a custom designed pump and water filtration system is utilised to provide crystal clear water that continually overflows the perfectly installed granite table top and steeply inclined sides. LED colour strip light is installed to further enhance the feature.
The water features form part of the residential development at Seren Park, Greenwich. Due to external time constraints these water features were designed manufactured, installed and commissioned in a 6 week period.
The areas for the rills are approximately 400mm wide, 160mm deep and vary in length between 4 and 18 metres. Each rill has a dedicated inlet and outlet pipe and the water runs over granite sets which gives the water a surface ripple effect.
All the mechanical and electrical equipment was located at basement level in a dedicated plantroom and consisted of water storage tank, dry mounted pumps, water treatment filtration and dosing equipment as well as the electrical controls.
Jewish Care has commissioned and constructed a leading care campus in North London which provides the very best in building and environment design and care for elderly Jewish people.
Within the campus all landscape areas have been designed and constructed by Thompson Landscapes who commissioned Fountains & Features to undertake the design and installation of the two water features.
In terms of the visual display the garden area offers a tranquil and peaceful space where visitors and residents can relax and enjoy the cooling environment of the two decorative water features.
Each feature consists of granite clad rills at waist height in which water runs and cascades into a ground level pool. There is a white light in each pool to illuminate the water as it cascades from the rill.
A private, new build mansion house in Hampstead, London
The water source emerges from the base of a stone feature temple which cascades down a series of steps to a very striking rill of water located centrally within a lawned area.
Water is pumped from the lower pool to the start of the rills at the temple and then flows through the plain and stepped rills returning to the lower pool.
A plant room is located in a room near the feature base where the pumping, water treatment equipment and controls are located.
