Honouring the heritage of the Grand Union Canal

This unique water feature honours the heritage of the Grand Union Canal and is a part of a canal-side plaza that was built as a social hub for local residents to enjoy.

The feature is a segment-shaped natural pond with a flat-bottomed canal boat, named PAVO, a former barge of the Grand Union Carrying Company, moored in it that serves as a café and surrounding decking area. The pumps and filtration equipment are housed in the plant room, which is below the decking area.

The planting around the canal boat enhances the feature’s natural appearance
