Spectacular water and light show!

Located in the Ingredients Room of the Guinness Storehouse Dublin, the feature represents one of the four key ingredients that are involved in the making of Guinness – Water. During the 2024 restoration of the entire Ingredients Room, the feature replaces one that has stood for many years.

Known as a FlashWall, the water feature is situated around the outside of a viewing platform, enclosed by a backing wall giving visitors a panoramic view of one of the Ingredients Room’s main showpieces.

The water feature is a 15.6m curved unit with 1,280 individually controllable solenoid valves. The unique arrangement of the nozzles allows for an extremely dense curtain of water, which guarantees high visibility.

The use of fast reacting valve technology, 17 times per second, allows individual water droplets – working like pixels – to fall with precision from a height of 4 m to produce customised graphics, texts and patterns to the client’s requirements.

The images created by the water droplets materialise once illuminated by 80 colour changing LED spotlights at high level and a further 76 at low level where the water, operating at a flow of over 10 litres per second, is collected via a stainless steel trough.

The presence of the FlashWall adds to the overall experience for visitors; providing a talking point, something to video, photograph and share.
